Description
Practice Resources, LLC (PRL) is seeking a Coding Specialist with an emphasis in Provider Auditing and Education to perform detailed coding education and auditing, serving as a valued resource to physicians and non-physician providers. He or she may travel to individual facilities to meet with leadership and providers, assisting offices with their coding, compliance and documentation quality.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct coding and documentation audits to assure coding quality.
  • Provide general education on coding, documentation guidelines, reimbursement rules and regulations.
  • Create and present customized coding education and initial audit reviews for new physicians/healthcare providers.
  • Develop written coding tips, training documents and updates for providers and clinical staff for potential areas of improvement in alignment with coding and compliance operations.
  • Periodically travel to provider locations to maintain relationships with providers and other clinic staff and provide coding education as needed.
  • Research updated coding information.
  • Research coding issues that arise.
  • Communicate coding changes and updates.

Requirements:

  • Requires a minimum of 1 year of Physician Coding experience using ICD 10, CPT, HCPCS, CCI Edits and Modifiers.
  • Working knowledge of Medent, Excel, PowerPoint and Intelicode preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Medical Terminology, anatomy/physiology, pathology, and disease process a must.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and written and have excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to travel to client locations within Central New York
  • Must be certified by AAPC or AHIMA
